2024 Field Hockey

Season Timing
STRA Field Hockey is offered to Southampton players in grades 3-8 as of September. Practices begin in mid August and the season runs through mid November.

The full practice & game schedule will be created after team selection at the end of July. 

Juniors (3rd - 5th Grade): Practice is held 3 times a week, 6-7:30pm. Games are Saturday mornings from September to the first week in November.
Seniors (6th - 8th Grade): Practice is held after the school practices. Days will vary due to school game schedule. We urge any 6, 7, & 8th grader interested in playing for STRA to participate on the school team. Games are held on Sunday afternoons from September to the first week in November.

We do play other townships and are required to do some traveling. The other townships in our league are Indian Mills, Marlton, Pemberton, Burlington & Florence.

All players are required to have: shin guards, colored mouth guards, cleats, black shorts, goggles, and a stick.

If your township has a recreational program for field hockey and can provide a team for your child’s age group, then you can NOT sign up at Southampton. The program’s Commissioner & STRA board will make the ultimate decision about out of town players. Please send an email to admin to be considered.

Registration is from 7/22/2024 to 8/16/2024.
Registration closes on 8/16/2024. Any registrations received after this date will incur a $50 late fee and players will be placed on a Waiting List. They will be placed on teams space permitting at the season start. There are no guarantees for registrations received after 8/16/2024.

2024 Fall Baseball

Season Timing & Location
2024 Fall Baseball will consist of Friday night games against Tabernacle and in-house from mid-September to end of October. Practice will begin late August until game. This is a causal baseball experience designed to stay active during the fall.

Practices will be held at Harry W. Thompson field (458 Red Lion Rd., Southampton, NJ 08088) and the Municipal Sports Complex (5 Retreat Rd., Southampton, NJ 08088). Practice days/times TBD.

Divisions:

Rookies: Open to children entering grades 1 & 2 this fall
Minors: Open to children entering grades 3 & 4 this fall
Majors: Open to children entering grades 5 & 7 this fall
Babe Ruth: Open to children ages 13-16

Equipment
Your child will need a baseball/softball glove, a bat, a batting helmet, baseball/softball pants and cleats. Boys also need an athletic cup. Catcher’s gear is provided for each team. Each player will receive a shirt.

STRA is a 100% volunteer run organization. Volunteer opportunities within the baseball and softball programs include:

2024 Fall Lacrosse Clinic

STRA's lacrosse program is fun based skills clinic, similar to Speed Lax. Lacrosse encompasses skills used in soccer, hockey, basketball and tennis. This program will help achieve multi-sport athleticism.
This is not a full field competitive program.  Boys and girls in grades K-12 are invited to participate. We will meet once weekly and engage in light teaching followed by games, games and more games. Participants will learn the game by playing. There will be small teams which will play quick games on 3 small fields (beginner, intermediate & advanced). Co-ed teams will be determined week to week and team changes throughout the night are expected.  

Participants will be provided with a jersey, but uniforms are not required. The following equipment is necessary for each player and must be purchased individually: 
  • Mouthpiece
  • Protective eyewear/goggles
  • Athletic cup for males
  • Lacrosse stick
  • Optional: cleats

2024 Fall Soccer

The STRA soccer program is open to children ages 4-13 in grades PK-8. Teams are divided by grade.

The U6 - PreK/Kindergarten (4 & 5 years old) and U8 - First/Second Grades (6 & 7 years old) teams:
  • The season goes from September through October.
  • Universal Soccer Academy will be training all STRA soccer players this Spring. Practice will be held on Mondays & Wednesdays with a paid trainer for 6 weeks from the start of the season.
  • Games are held on Saturday mornings.
  • All games & practices are held at the Red Lion Sports Complex (459 Red Lion Rd., Southampton, NJ 08088).
  • All players will need a water bottle, cleats and shin guards.
  • Uniforms and socks will be provided for each player.

The U10 (8 & 9 years old), U12 (10 & 11 years old) and U14 (12 & 13 years old) Pinelands League teams:
  • The season goes from September through the middle of November.
